CT0010 – Climate Action: Building Inter-generational Platforms

My guest on this episode is Nnimmo Bassey from Nigeria. Unquestionably, Nnimmo is one of Africa’s most consistent and long-standing Environmentalists. In 1993, Dr. Bassey co-founded the Environmental Rights Action and has continued to lead a lot of successful environmental efforts across the continent. Named as one of Times Magazines’ Heroes of the Environment in 2009, bagged the Right Livelihood Award in 2010, the Rafto Prize in 2012 and as recent as 2019, he was awarded a Doctorate by the University of York.

Currently, Nnimmo is the Director of the Health of Mother Earth Foundation, an environmental think tank and advocacy organization. On this episode on the Climate Talk Podcast, we have a chat about why youths should be at the centre of the global climate conversation.

You will also find out:

  • The need and urgency to transit from fossil fuel to renewable energy.
  • Outcomes from the UN Youth Climate Summit and Climate Action Summit.
  • Thoughts about President Buhari’s commitment at the UN Climate Action Summit.
